x Universal Sea I've become increasingly interested in visiting, I have a few friends there, and as Melbourne starts towards winter, I'd like a nice blast of that Perth climate before drudging into a half year of misery.

It's looking like the second half of April, and possible characters include Shanks, Rachael Davison from Knowledge Mag, Rommel, Bikkies, and who knows who else. It will only be for 3 or 4 nights anyway.

Update to come...

x Jess they don't look all that tasty.

And Sea, since you're no longer experiencing Canadian winter, you have no right to whine about misery!

x Universal Sea we sure do

jess - misery is subjective. It's hard to handle 10 degree days after being used to 30-35.

x magical update x
x Universal Sea Flights have been booked, I'm hitting Perth Wednesday April 25th through to Monday April 30th. It's chosen for lots of reasons, in between Heavyweight studio filming dates, Off Beats, and before Kim's boyfriend moves from Perth to Melbourne, so we can get messy together before his ball and chain comes down.

Should be super, super super duper.

x Universal Sea Link: Getting to the airport

I'm loathe to harrass anybody into driving me to the airport at 8:30 in the morning on a public holiday.

x Universal Sea Link: Self-check in

Virgin Blue allows me to "check in" 24 hours before my flight. I can select my seat and print out my boarding pass, then all I have to do at the airport is drop my bags off. This will cut down on dicking around time or worrying that I might not get the seat I want.

x Universal Sea I'm in Perth now, arriving yesterday around noon after a blah Virgin Blue flight. I forgot I had a corkscrew hidden in my carry on backpack from months ago and couldnt find it, that could have been a security problem, they weren't impressed. Also had my name called out over the airport audio system as I arrived at the airport, with web-check-in, at time of boarding.

Had a nice tour or two around a few areas of perth on wednesday, I'm staying at knowledge writer Rachel D's place in Northbridge. We had a very nice Indian dinner last night in a place called Leederville. Now it's Thursday AM, I'm getting my bearings going, a bit of exercise and a shower, then off to the city for some shopping I suppose. Plans later are open, and there is a very interesting person I'm hoping to catch up with. Friday there are already 5 nighttime plans, and Saturday is full on as well.

Weather has been pretty good so far. Next report this evening or tomorrow.

x Universal Sea Haven't seen them around yet.

Met up with dnb DJ/promoter Rommel last night and his girl Amy, then off to a dnb night at the Rosemount Hotel, where I finally met the absolutely sublime Bikkies. Then the quiet afterparty at Ross' pad in Mt Lawley, Rommel and I watched BORAT! It's so funny...

Today I'm off to Freemantle, I think, then back for a nap, and preparing for my biggest night of the holiday so far.

This is a very deep trip and I'm a bit run through the emotional barriers, seeing the time that is left, and the window for opportunity closing, yet there shouldn't be a rush. This to be deciphered one day.

x Jess I felt like that in Cuba - I only had a week to soak up an unbelievably complex culture. Though maybe I was a little more frenzied and even frustrated at times. Every minute is spent checking and double-checking your surroundings.

In retrospect though, it was the trip of a lifetime.

Glad you got to see Borat. It now ranks among my all-time favourite movies.

x Universal Sea Back now, just woke up in my own bed, Perth seemed like a bad dream. This is the most miserable I've been since returning from Byron Bay. Trying to sort out why and figuring out what I'm going to do.

x Universal Sea Kay is her name, I didn't make my move because she's emotionally vulnerable at the moment and I didn't want to blow growing a solid friendship first.

I'm chilling out more now. Between coming down off party goods and typical post-trip syndrome it's no wonder I'm down. Good memories are coming back and the trip was good in general..

x jeffwith1f ahh the game of love.
such tricky timing.

don't want to be a cad and strike when someone is vulnerable (it's unsporting and usually won't last anyways), but you don't want to fall too far into friend camp, lest not being able to escape.

I'm soooo gald I don't need to deal with this crap anymore.
