x Marc Ok...

It goes like this:

1) We learn a bunch of easy-ish and popular songs that we like.
2) We get the lyrics & chords off the web and print them up in a page-numbered coil-ringed binder - costs about $5 per binder.
3) We go to Nutopia, set up a common area - a big screened tent - and then set up our individual tents.
4) Put on a weird costume, get out the green tea and the instruments.
5) Start singin' & jammin'... everybody joins in...

We also invented something called 'projector jam'.

We hook a projector up to the 'net, then plug in our instruments and decided which of the universe's songs we shall sing tonight.

It's funner than karaoke, and - from what I hear - funner than cocaine.

x jeffwith1f and here's the kicker.
it's only $200.

as soon as I get the whole silverburst V under control I am totally ordering one of these. even if it's virtually unplayable and sounds like ass, for $200 it's worth having. I am sure the good people at Dean would not make something that's unplayable. It will probably not be the best sounding acoustic though...

x jeffwith1f El Degas.

I have an El Degas gold-top Les Paul copy that I love. it plays a treat, but it's not worth much more than $200 as these guitars seem to be universally lothed, and frankly I have played alot of really crappy El Degas as well.

I believe they are Japanese made copy brand instruments that were branded with a variety of names and sold overseas as part of the first wave of asian imported copy guitars. While not highly valued, they are, in theory well made, frequently being made in the same factories with the same parts as many of the better respected copy brands of the 70's, - 80's such as Ibanez. My El Degas Copy shares almost identical construction and tooling as my Ibanez Les Paul copy from the same era, it is not hard to see that these shared a common heritage.

$10 is a steal for any instrument, even if only suitable as a wall hanging. Well done Marc's dad. post a pic!
