x dragonspirit Illegal driftnets are killing thousands of dolphins and other vulnerable species in the Mediterranean, despite an EU ban, wildlife campaigners warn.

WWF said driftnet fishing had been outlawed since January 1 2002 and the United Nations imposed a moratorium on large scale driftnets in 1992.

But a report reveals that the Moroccan driftnet fleet is the most lethal for Mediterranean marine biodiversity.

This was a report on the news headlines on teletext this morning. The European Union seems powerless to impose its rules on its own member states such as France who continuosly flout regulations (while Britain capitulates totally) so how are they expected to prevent African and other non-European nations from committing ecological atrocities of this nature,
